Here we often have the most difficult of choices with too many options at time and far too little real knowledge of which and why etc..??

We can all ask friends and family for their advice, but so often there are advances in acne treatments from month to month, let alone year to year, that such advice will not necessarily be the best. Acne also can have huge variations on effects on differing skin types, as well as on the location of the person and their diet and their habits and their daily routines and etc etc etc…. So what may work for your friend, may not work for you. It does often come down to trial and error, but keep in mind that whatever you use, PLEASE make sure your skin is not going to suffer as a result. You can over-do treatment just as badly as not taking any at all, test, test and test.

There are tens of thousands of products for acne worldwide, but vastly less are those which can be relied upon as being safe to use, this is where the products finds their own shelf space in the pharmacies and stores, as unreliable or unacceptable products from the health safely standards angle will not find an outlet in a reputable pharmacy or store, simply making what is reliable and popular a dependable seller. Again as Acne does have variations through region positions across the world, you will often find products which work in one part of the world, will have a lesser positive outcome in another.

Please check the links on any of the pages on this website for what may be available and reputable in your own country or region.

If we look at the simplest of products for Acne, SOAP, even the best branded product can have a detrimental effect upon some skin. I know of 8 people close to me who used a multi-million seller soap by a top global brand, targeted at the young and skin carers, who developed dry skin which cracked and required prescription medication to bring it under control. The lesson here is that we must all try and test products, if it looks like a side effect is occurring, be that dryness, soreness or rashes etc, stop immediately and rest the skin for 3 or 5 days before using another product.

A product for which you pay 100 dollars will not neccesarily work better for you than a product costing a tenth. Use and test wisely.

We will be listing tested remedies shortly based upon product verdicts and natural products.

At all times be careful with your skin, it is yours and will last a lifetime!!

Acne vulgaris is a disease of the sebaceous follicle. Increased production of oil in adolescence is associated with the development of comedones, erythematous papules, pustules, and also cysts.

Acne vulgaris are not entirely understood, these range from hormone fluctuations, excess sebum in the pilosebeaceous units, stress, hyperactive sebaceous glands, allergic reactions to normal skin bacteria, skin irritation, use of steroids and halogens and, in some cases, genetics has also been shown to play a role in Acne.

85 to 100 percent of people worldwide at some point in their lives with experience acne vulgaris.

Hormone changes that cause an excess of oil in the skin are a leading cause of acne vulgaris and so this is why Acne is most commonly seen in puberty. In puberty, breakouts are a response to levels of the hormone testosterone that is found in both males and females in varying degrees. Women do secrete small amounts of testosterone at different points in their cycle and these types of lesions are common in women, even after puberty in the days leading up to their menstrual period. With time, hormone changes settle and become more stable, the acne vulgaris lesions will begin to diminish and will eventually disappear. There is no time limit as to when or how long it can take for the acne vulgaris to disappear entirely, as each person is different and each has a different situation. However, commonly the Acne Vulgaris will disappears by the end of the teenage years.

Another cause of acne vulgaris is an excess of a substance called sebum. The sebaceous glands secrete this substance which is oily in nature and composed largely of debris and fats. As the cells in the glands burst, sebum is the result causing what appears as oily skin. Sebum excess results in greasy hair as well as being found in earwax. It is thought that hormone fluctuations are a leading cause of sebum production, so again with youth and hormone changes, there is the abundant production of sebum which again leads to Acne. Certain hormones including the same androgen hormones that start in puberty, as well as insulin-growth factor hormones, also play a role in acne and it is quite commonly found that people with poor insulin regulation will have frequest breakouts of Acne.

The connection between acne and stress is well known. The reguslar use of anabolic steroids can also increase the presence of acne vulgaris. A major misconceptions is that certain people will get acne vulgaris because they don’t wash and are unhygienic. In fact the truth is that acne vulgaris has nothing to do with hygiene or how clean someone is. Blackheads may seem as though they contain dirt, but they are actually caused by skin secretions. Keeping skin clean by washing regularly will reduce the number of pimples, but others will have excessive acne vulgaris regardless of how much they scrub and wash themselves. Indeed, excessive cleaning can irritate the skin and lead to even more pimples.

Chloride compounds can also cause chlorAcne. Excluded as specific causes of Acne are diet (except where foods cause an allergic reaction or have other ingredients which do cause acne), sex (despite beliefs to the contrary) and dirt.

Acne vulgaris can be treated with sulphur, benzoyl peroxide, antibiotics and indeed hundreds of over-the-counter medications available from a Pharmacy. Treatment will often only work for a limited period of time, however, in most case the swithcing of treatements after 12 weeks can help in severe cases.

There is this so-called stage in our life when we experience the numerous changes in us be it physically or other aspects. It is named as puberty. Then, it is followed by that crucial stage called adolescence. There are a lot of physical changes that occur during these stages. One of the most common physical changes and even a physical problem for young people who experience such problem is acne.

Well, it is a myth that only teenagers, or let us call them adolescents who only experience having acne, but to make it clear, acne is possible for all ages and whoever the person is. But, the stages mentioned make the younger ones prone to acne for they experience this physical change involving some parts of their system. These physical changes are of course brought about by internal processes or even changes as well.

What then causes acne?

Acne is caused by bacteria. It happens when our pores get clogged up with too much sebum produced be our skin glands.

As we are all aware of, young people are not that very particular with being hygienic and the care for face is one that is neglected. With this, acne occurrence is faster and more possible. Teens experience a lot of hormonal changes; one of these many changes is that teens produce more sebum from their face and when not properly cared, skin disorders may happen. ACNE is one of the possible cases.

Around the world, this has been a common skin problem. There are remedies; there are herbal solutions down to chemical solutions. ACNE should not be taken so hard, when one tries options for remedy, it would surely be cured. Seeking the help of an expert would of course be a great help.

For teenagers, it is also good to ask your parent or guardian to help you out in knowing what is best for you and your skin problem.

There are also angles that connect the possibility of having acne to parents who had their own acne experiences too.

Whatever the roots may be, see to it that you, as a teenager take good care of your skin by giving the right amount treatment and not just let your skin problem get even worse.

Most of us that have to deal with acne also have to deal with other skin problems as well. As a matter of fact, oily skin that is difficult to keep clean often goes hand in hand with a bad complexion. We spent most of our time cleaning our skin and trying to keep it dry with a number of different natural methods. As a matter of fact, it is really thought that drying your skin out is going to do a lot to help you with the acne you are experiencing.

A good example of this is one of the more popular natural healing methods for acne. You take salt and vinegar, mix it together and then apply it to your face. You allow it to dry for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off, if you’re able to stand the smell the vinegar that long. This does a good job of helping us with our acne and it also dries our skin. Did you realize, however, that putting oil on your skin may do a lot to help you with your acne as well?

It actually depends on the type of the oil that you are going to use for your skin. Coconut oil has been renowned the world over for its natural healing properties. One of the things that it is said to do is to help us with our skin and people that put coconut oil on their skin often recognize that it helps them with their complexion. This is not only the case of our complexion is good but it is also the case on our complexion is bad. You should make sure that you are applying coconut oil to your skin liberally throughout the day and even eating it from time to time.

Of course, the type of coconut oil that you use is also going to make a difference in how well this works. You should always get a raw coconut oil that is organic. Whenever you are shopping for this, you are going to notice that raw, organic coconut oil is a lot more expensive. Believe me, the difference that this type of coconut oil makes is going to make the little bit of extra cost well worth it in the long run. Try this out for a week and you will be convinced that adding oil is one of the best things for oily skin.

Feel like you’ve tried everything to get rid of your acne? If you haven’t tried a prescription retinol yet, don’t throw in the towel yet. You may be pleasantly surprised by how effective retinoids can be as an acne remedy.

Basically, retinol is a vitamin A derivative. Vitamin A is beneficial for your skin, your vision, and your bones too. But to understand how retinoids control acne, it helps to know a bit about how pimples form in the first place. It’s a combination of factors that begin when the skin cells lining the hair follicles die and begin to slough off. Sometimes these cells get sticky, clump together, and plug up your pores, thus giving rise to pimples. Retinoids put a stop to this chain of events by bringing these cells back into balance and preventing them from sticking together. The cells are then free to slough off normally. In short, retinoids keep your pores open.

Retinoids also have anti-aging properties, another bonus for adult acne sufferers. The vitamin A derivative increases the amount of collagen in your skin, a protein that keeps your skin youthful and elastic. You may notice your skin looks more smooth and vibrant after using retinoids for a while.

Unfortunately, retinoids also have negative side effects. They can dry and irritate your skin at first, and may even worsen acne for a short time. To avoid stressing out your skin, you should begin by applying a topical retinoid no more than once a week, and gradually increase the number of applications each week. In most cases the skin will get acclimated to the retinol cream and won’t be irritated by it. Applying moisturizer can also offset the drying effects. Retinoids can also make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so applying a sunscreen is a must.

There are several different types of retinoids, including Differen, Retin-A, and Tazorac. Although most are applied topically as a cream or ointment, there is a retinol that can be taken orally. Isotretinoin (more commonly known as Accutate) is the most effective retinoid treatment of all. In fact, for many patients it stops acne indefinitely. However, Accutane is infamous for its side effects. It can cause birth defects if women take this medication while pregnant. It can also dry out your lips and nose, and cause nosebleeds. In rare cases, it has been linked with joint soreness, liver complications, and suicidal thoughts. For these reasons, it’s wise to work closely with a physician when taking an oral retinoid such as Accutane.

If you’ve been struggling with acne and feel like you’ve tried everything, a retinol may be just what you need. Retinoids are especially effective when combined with other acne treatments, such as a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment. Ask your dermatologist if retinoids are right for you.

It’s a simple fact that Acne will be with you for possibly years, so the sooner you start to look after it and give it the time and attention required, the better chance there will be for the Acne either to remain under control or indeed to stop it from leaving scars and becoming far worse than as it first starts. When Acne starts, there are factors that will have changed your skin from those who have normal type. As recommended by the experts, you have to treat your skin affected with acne with more care and more caution. There are some helpful tips you must consider in order for you to gradually get that acne cured or if not at least, not let your condition turn even worse.

These are the things you must do and embrace as habits that you may be able to achieve better skin.

The simplest way is by washing and cleaning your skin gently
There are gentle soaps that would surely wash your skin mildly. You are of course not allowed to use soaps that are that strong for they may leave harsh effects on your skin. Toners and cleansers are not also recommended for they have active components that may worsen your skin’s condition. When you feel the need of a toner or a cleanser, see to it that it has an approval from your dermatologist or else you would just cry more and have even the worse acne condition.

Always see to it that you do not use skin products like skin scrubs for they would surely harm your skin. Be very careful in treating your skin, if you would not, you would definitely regret the outcomes. So, be disciplined and do not risk the health of your skin just for temporary things.

For men, shave carefully
In order not to increase the possibility of harm that your skin might get due to the things you do or the products you use. Well, for men who shave off their skin hair, it is very advisable that they shave carefully and use cream or soap before doing so. The soap or cream would make the hair softer. Be sure to choose the right shaver as well.

Shaving is a really hygienic routine and sees to it that you do it properly without harming your skin. You have to remind yourself of this for it is really very important.

Choose cosmetics carefully
This is a special condition when you have acne. Cosmetics must be chosen well most especially, they are recommended by your dermatologist. When you have cosmetics that are needed to be changed, you need to switch to products that are oil free and are noncomedogenic. But, there are cases that the use of cosmetics is of no good at all. So, in this case, it would be best to leave your skin free of cosmetics.

These are just some of the things you need to consider as reminders for those who have acne. The right caution and care would surely give you the best results.

It’s cheap, easily available and has great cleansing properties for use around your house, it’s one of those products that everyone know for using in recipes and one of those ‘old wives tales’ products that have long had many other uses around the home most of which have been forgotten.

Opinions are divided as to the value of using Baking Soda, while it’s true that baking soda may help shrivel up some of your pimples, others say that you may be doing more harm to your skin in the long run and possibly even pave the way to worse breakouts later.

To understand why many are opposed to using baking soda as an acne treatment, you should know that baking soda is an alkaline, this puts its pH level somewhere at around 8. If you consider that your face is covered by a natural, slightly acidic mantle with the natural pH balance of your face’s skin is somewhere between 4 and 6, it’s simple to see why there is so much concern. As you rinse your face with baking soda, you are literally stripping away that protective acidic mantle, that is why it can sting so much!!!! This may not seem like a big deal, but your facial skin is slightly acidic in order to help protect your skin from bacteria and infections. By stripping away that layer, you are leaving your skin vulnerable to damage far worse that acne itself. Even if you put aside the pH factor, baking soda is very harsh on your skin. With prolonged used, it will dry out your skin, leaving it red, irritated, and flaky.

If you do decide to use baking soda, especially if you have tried numerous other topical solutions, you may notice that the baking soda may well clear the worse of your acne problems and that your skin feels smoother and softer. Your pimples may be smaller and its appearance may be less red, however, many people report that the baking soda treatment stops working after from anywhere from a few weeks to a few months and that they begin to experience worse breakouts than before the use of baking soda.

To balance this view, some people do try and balance out the harshness of baking soda on ph levels by rinsing the skin with diluted apple cider vinegar. As the vinegar is acidic, the idea behind its use is that it will restore your face to its normal pH value. The truth is that vinegar is much like baking soda, as far as it is a very harsh agent to use on your face. Trying to throw one product onto your skin in order to balance out the harsh effects of another, can be distressing to your skin and cause even more problems.

As many people do however use Baking Soda with little or very little side effects, we have given below the most popular methods of using baking soda safely. Can we also add, there are MANY ACNE products on the market which are not the most gentle of things to use on the face, yet they also can work well and can help reduce the effects of acne. This is all trial and error after all, we all remember using products on our faces day after day hoping they will work, only to be left with the same spots and acne but now with a dry, tight skin. After that we would try another product and so on. Only ever use a product, even such a simple sound one as Baking Soda, for a limited period and with an eye on its effects not only on the acne, but on the surrounding skin. If it makes your skin red or dry, stop using it just as you would stop using any other product if causing the same side effects.

SIMPLE STEPS FOR USING BAKING SODA AS AN ACNE TREATMENT;

PROS: Clears skin

CONS: May irritate skin if used too often

1. Wash your skin with a gentle natural soap, free from perfumes. DO NOT SCRUB your face with the soap, wash gently but thoroughly.

2. Make a paste by mixing baking soda and water to form a not too stiff paste. It takes approximately a teaspoon of baking soda and about 2 teaspoons of water to a good mixture.

3. Apply the paste over the acne areas of your face and message in a circular motion gently for about half a minute. Rest for a further 30 seconds to allow the paste to do its work. AVOID THE EYES and take care not to get baking soda into your eyes. Rinse with clean water and pat your face with a SOFT towel. DO NOT SCRUB your face with the towel, however tempting that may be! It will do more harm than good. Dab a soft cotton wool ball or pad with calamine lotion and gently apply a thin layer over your face.

Leave this lotion on your skin overnight. The next morning, wash your skin with water.

Repeat this procedure for about two weeks as a regular routine and you should to see good results.

You do not have to consider it as a problem. There are more things to prioritize and not letting that acne bother you that much for it would not help at all. Well, another point we have to consider is how to treat acne. With the treatment, money matters. This means that of course, you have to have some amount of money for the treatment.

Well, when what you have is not enough, you could have the most reliable home treatments. These would be saving you from having worse acne without having to spend so much. What are these means? Are they safe? Yes, they are safe steps in treating your acne problems and they would not let you experience all those acne terrors or bad outcomes of trying to get the remedy for acne.

These are worth your trial for they are really effective and you could just be at home. But, take note that these guidelines are only for mild acne problems and if you have a more complicated situation, you have to seek the help of a professional.

First, if washing does not seem to be very helpful for you, then it is high time for you to use benzoyl peroxide. This could be found from face wash, bar soap, topical cream or gel. The reminder you have to take note of is that you must not over use this solution for it may leave your skin super red or super dry.

One thing that you would notice as you try home remedies, the results may be slow. But, you need to be patient about it. The results you are expecting to have may be achieved like after a couple of weeks after you use them on your skin. Be really careful with this for you would surely be hurting skin if in case and it may even lead to a worse effect.

Have you heard about salicylic acid? It is another thing that you could use. And this could be found in facial washes or facial pads. This could be very helpful to helping your pores be unclogged and prevent the growth of pimples or even the case of acne. Again, you have to be very careful in using it too so that you would not have even those very bad outcomes.

These two: benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are very useful treatment aids you could use. But, be very keen about them. Use them well.

As we are all aware of, there are emotional effects caused by acne. More than those obvious red bumps on your face, there are effects of acne that could not just be healed by any cream or acne solution and that is the emotional scars left by acne. Well, no doctor or any expert dermatologist could provide you with the best answers to this problem on acne.

According to studies, acne is very common when one is on his teenage years. For teenagers experiencing the pains of acne, it is very difficult to face the social impacts of acne. There are these marks of shame, depression and even self-pity. As a parent of a teenager who faces this problem, you could be one of the greatest helps. What could you do? You could do a lot.

Remind your child that acne is temporary.
As a guardian, you need to be there and give the encouragement to your child. You would probably see him or her so down due to the way people and criticisms pinch him or her. Tell that it will not last for long and that it would be successfully surpassed. Never stop to explain the importance of moving on despite the negative reactions from others for their words are not that important at all.

Bring your teen to a good dermatologist
Do not wait for your teen’s acne problem to get worse before you go and see a dermatologist. The earlier the better, this may be cliché but very true for this matter and you could realize the truth behind this. You need to find the dermatologist who deserves your trust. Be with your teen as you have visits to the dermatologist. Also, help your teen follow the reminders and instructions of the dermatologist.

Guide your child to do the right things
There are some things or acts that may worsen acne. See to it that you are near your teen to remind that those are not the right thing to do and it would just cause bad effects. Explain the cause and effect of acne problems and be sure t answer questions that your teen has.

Boost your teen’s self-confidence
Self-confidence plunges down when all those mocks and teases arise. The effect to your teen would be bitter. Be there to boost the esteem he or she has inside. Be generous with praises but do not use them just to flatter. Tell your teen about how wonderful his or her talent is. This would be a lift to his/her morale.

You are a parent, and you could help out your teen feel better through the misjudgments of the society towards people with acne. This is just a stage; it would surely be put to an end. Be there and support your child like no one could.
